i'll take it

i went down yesterday to collect my dopod and i'm happy to report that i sold it for exactly $735. i know i said that i'd get $800 bucks but the highest price quoted to me was about $700 plus. some even had the gall to say four hundred. so $735 was, in my opinion, good enough.
it's so nice to see your account balance take a jump like that.

flatlining

my blog posts are getting few and far between each other these days. probably because there really is nothing exciting happening that valids an update. and i dont really wanna blog about army stuff. my social life's been kinda on the low lately too. everyone's busy i guess with school and what not.

on the plus side though, i'm going down to get my dopod (finally) tomorrow and i'll most definitely sell it off. last i remembered, a dealer was offering me about $800 for this phone. man that would be fantastic. an $800 boost is always welcome. hell a boost of any amount is just as good. i dont know exactly what to do with the cash yet. my instinct is to save. is that a good thing?

i need to go drinking.

i'll get the tequila

i cant believe mathilda is out! singapore's got it all wrong. pure uncut talent is right up there on stage every week personified as a 23 year old performer that really gives it her all and many decide on the good-looking joakim gomez with as much singing ability as a doormouse.

the ideals of this competition is totally lost on singaporeans. the demographic that this competition appeals to totally does not understand that presentability and charm does not an idol make. it is a singing competition first and foremost, everything else can be brushed up by good suits and make up. remember the dweeby clay aiken with the voice equivalent to josh groban's?

this is another reason (together with the fact that an idol's future in s'pore consists of co-singing or singing the national day song together with what seems to be a lifetime contract with 7-11 promoting the big gulp) why i feel that we are seriously not prepared to vote for an idol. it's a sad fact that many voters, especially those in the early teens which make up a good lot of the voter percentage, do not know what talent is, even if its there on stage parading itself off. they vote for what is visually appealing and the one that makes them scream the loudest. a large majority of the ones that are able to recognise talent do not vote probably because it is a waste of money and the winners are not going to go very far anyway. they just dont take it seriously i guess because it doesnt affect them directly all that much.

i would not be so sore if mathilda had gone out facing worthy adversaries but joakim is not a singer, just a pretty boy who got voted into the competition by brainless screaming fans of the female variety, or deaf aunties.

who is more enlightened: the one who believes in god or the one who goes in search of the truth?

isnt it interesting that whenever bruce banner transforms into the hulk the only part of his clothes that conviniently doesnt rip to shreads is the top part of his pants?

i have never really been patriotic. there are a lot of elements this country has that i really like; the different types of people, our way of life, the food... but i'm just not patriotic.
that's probably why the parade seemed so icky and laughable.
